web.config problem

I am having trouble with my web.config file recognizing the <connectionStrings> tag. I get the error Unrecognized configuration section 'connectionStrings'. The exact same web.config file works in other projects. Is there something I have to do to make it recognize this tag?Do you use VS 2005?
